Muslim Charity and IOM also partnered in responding to humanitarian crises in Afghanistan.
Faith-Based Giving on the Global Stage
In his remarks, Mohammed Abdiker highlighted the transformative role of faith-based giving. He stressed that Zakat and Sadaqah are already among the largest sources of humanitarian financing worldwide, bringing tangible relief to millions of people living in poverty, displacement or crisis. He underlined that the Islamic Philanthropy Fund is an important and vital platform to further harness and promote these resources, enabling faith-based giving to play an even stronger role in international responses to displacement, exploitation and crisis.
Looking ahead, Mohammed Abdiker also referenced the upcoming “Power of Purpose” event at UNGA80 in New York, convened by Foreign Policy in partnership with IOM. The event will gather global leaders, philanthropists, business executives and faith actors to explore how purpose-driven partnerships can address today’s most urgent challenges. He welcomed Muslim Charity’s participation, noting that faith-giving will be spotlighted as a crucial component of sustainable humanitarian financing in this high-level forum later this month.
