HOW YOU CAN
HELP

A Humanitarian
Crisis

The crisis in Sudan has become one of the largest displacement emergencies in the world. Ongoing conflict, economic collapse and widespread insecurity have forced millions of families to flee their homes, often with no warning and no possessions.

According to the United Nations, nearly 13 million people have been displaced, including millions of children. Many Sudanese families have crossed borders into neighbouring countries in search of safety, stability and basic necessities such as food and shelter.

For those who have escaped the violence, the hardship does not end at the border. Refugee families face severe food shortages, limited access to livelihoods and chronic uncertainty, especially as humanitarian resources become increasingly overstretched.

Uganda is one of the countries hosting Sudanese refugees, offering protection and refuge to families who have lost everything. However, funding gaps and reduced food assistance mean that many refugee households are struggling to meet even their most basic needs.

Women, children, the elderly and persons with disabilities are among the most vulnerable — often skipping meals, selling essential belongings or taking on unsafe coping strategies simply to survive.

MUSLIM CHARITY
INTERVENTION

Supporting Sudanese Refugee Families in Uganda

While Muslim Charity is not currently operating inside Sudan, we are responding to the Sudan Emergency by supporting Sudanese refugee families who have sought safety in Uganda.

At Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement in Bweyale, Kiryandongo District, Muslim Charity has delivered life-saving food assistance to Sudanese refugee households facing acute hunger.

In January 2026, Muslim Charity provided emergency food packs to 1,000 Sudanese refugee families, helping them through a critical period of food insecurity. Each food pack contained essential staple items designed to meet immediate nutritional needs and restore dignity to families who have endured displacement and loss.

Our intervention in Uganda goes beyond emergency food aid. Muslim Charity is committed to supporting longer-term resilience and self-reliance among refugee communities by:

• Assisting refugee families to establish small income-generating businesses
• Supporting livelihoods and skills-based activities
• Working closely with trusted local partners and settlement structures to ensure aid is delivered fairly, transparently and with dignity

By focusing on both immediate relief and sustainable support, Muslim Charity aims to help Sudanese refugee families move from survival towards stability.

Standing with displaced families

Every intervention is guided by our belief that humanitarian aid is an Amanah (trust). We work carefully to ensure that every donation reaches those most in need and delivers the greatest possible impact.

As the Sudan crisis continues to displace families and strain humanitarian systems, Muslim Charity remains committed to supporting vulnerable Sudanese refugees wherever we are able to respond effectively and responsibly.
