Geneva/Amman, 24 February 2026 – The International Organization for Migration (IOM) and Muslim Charity are supporting displaced Palestinian families in Gaza through the provision of emergency tents for people living without adequate or safe shelter. 

Thanks to a contribution of USD 300,000 from Muslim Charity, IOM will procure and deliver 448 emergency tents, providing support to an estimated 2,464 people in Gaza. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to improving living conditions, preserving dignity, and providing a basic level of protection amid prolonged displacement following over two years of war in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT). 

“While efforts are being made to transition to early recovery in Gaza, urgent humanitarian needs remain unmet. For thousands of families in Gaza, these tents are the only protection against rain, cold, and insecurity,” said Mohammed Abdiker, IOM’s Chief of Staff. “Partnerships like this one with Muslim Charity are essential to help people survive today, while sustained humanitarian access is urgently needed to meet the scale of shelter needs.”

Across Gaza, nearly the entire population of 2 million people remain displaced, with many living in overcrowded sites, flood-prone areas, or makeshift shelters constructed from salvaged materials. Repeated displacement continues today, while ongoing access constraints and restrictions on durable shelter supplies have left families without safe, dignified living conditions. 

As winter conditions persist and needs continue to grow, increased and sustained humanitarian access is critical to enable the delivery of shelter materials and the implementation of site improvements at scale. Overall, IOM has dispatched 1.77 million relief items over the last four months, including more than 28,000 tents, 440,000 tarps, and 340,000 thermal blankets, supporting displaced families during the cold and rainy season.   

This partnership with Muslim Charity is facilitated through IOM’s Islamic Philanthropy Fund, an initiative launched in 2025 that aims to harness the power of Islamic charitable giving to support some of the world’s most vulnerable people. 

IOM’s OPT Gaza Response is currently utilizing nearly USD 2,645,000 in contributions from various Islamic charitable organizations to provide emergency shelter support to displaced families in Gaza.
