Muslim Charity delivers emergency medical equipment in Bangladesh to assist treatment of coronavirus victims

As part of Muslim Charity’s Coronavirus Emergency Appeal, we have recently handed over 10 oxygen cylinders with flow meters, 7 oxygen concentrators and 17 pulse oximeters to our partner organisation, ASH Foundation, a Chattogram-based emergency health service provider in Bangladesh. The organisation transports necessary equipment like oxygen concentrators via ambulances to the houses of patients via an on call 24/7 emergency service through their hello hospital service.

In Bangladesh, Covid-19 has put huge pressures on health systems with hospitals running short of hospital beds, especially ICU beds. In this crucial time, it is therefore vital that Covid-19 patients can also be given options to have access to emergency oxygen and nebulisation services at home, which our partner organisation in Bangladesh ensures by providing cylinders and concentrators delivered at home to needy patients recommended by doctors in emergency cases.

Bangladesh is one of the countries which has not been able to bring the spreading of coronavirus under control, neither has it been able to ensure availability of treatment in place for all and is still going through a countrywide lockdown which has also made people financially vulnerable. Bangladesh recorded 13,768 Covid-19 cases, while 220 people lost the battle to the deadly virus in 24 hours until yesterday morning (12 July 2021).

The new numbers took the country’s caseload to 1,034,957, while the death toll rose to 16,639, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) of Bangladesh.
