6. Planting Trees and Agricultural Projects
Planting a tree is an act filled with faith. The Prophet (saw) said that when a person plants a tree, and animals or people eat from it, it is counted as charity. That tree gives shade, fruit, and oxygen for years long after the planter has gone. The planter themselves may never live to see or experience the fruit of the tree themselves. This encapsulate faith – giving without expectation, but with sincere intention, hope and conviction.
Supporting agricultural projects also creates livelihoods, strengthens communities, and helps the environment flourish. It’s a small act with an endless return.
7. Constructing Homes or Shelters for Families
A safe home is one of the most basic human needs, yet millions around the world have no safe place to call home. For widows, refugees, and families who’ve lost everything in disasters, having a roof over their heads means security and stability as they rebuild their lives. When you help build a home, you don’t just offer shelter - you restore peace and dignity.
Each night that family sleeps in safety, you share in that comfort. The walls you helped raise become a shield of mercy, standing firm even as years pass.
8. Purchasing Livestock for Families
A single animal can change a family’s future. Livestock like goats, cows, or chickens provide milk, eggs, and income, helping families escape poverty and build a steady livelihood. Over time, that one act of giving multiplies, feeding generations and helps to break cycles of poverty, creating independence and growth.
It’s a simple but powerful form of Sadaqah Jariyah. Every meal, every sale, every new animal born continues your reward. It turns generosity into independence, and charity into self-reliance.
9. Teaching Someone a Valuable Skill
Sadaqah Jariyah isn’t only about money. Teaching someone to read, sew, farm, or repair things can also change lives. Once they learn, they can support their family and teach others, spreading the benefit far beyond a single lesson.
Knowledge shared sincerely for Allah’s sake never goes to waste. It travels, it grows, and it brings light to people’s lives long after the lessons are over, or the teacher is gone.
10. Supporting Schools, Madrasahs, and Community Centres
Schools, madrasahs, and community centres are spaces where faith, learning, and compassion come together. By helping to build or sustain them, you invest in generations of growth and understanding.
These institutions nurture minds, strengthen communities, and often become safe havens for those in need. They can help young people navigate the world, enhance their skills, develop a better understanding of their own identity, and to have spaces to reach out for support. Every class taught, every Qur’an memorised, every person comforted there continues your chain of reward.
